Safe Drinking Water Projects
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) – waterborne disease is the world’s leading killer.
Many rural villages in Nepal do not have proper and easy access to safe drinking water. People are drinking contaminated water. Thousands of children and adults, therefore, die every year. If we can invest in safe drinking water then huge numbers of people could be saved from different kinds of waterborne diseases. For this reason, having received a lot of requests from local communities, we have started drinking water projects.
We are studying and communicating with some of the organizations and planning to dig wells in Mahottari, Siraha, Sarlahi and Rautahat districts on the southern plains of the country.
If people have sufficient water at home they can use it for better sanitation and hygiene. Providing water is, therefore, vital to the communities that lack it.
DRINKING WATER PROJECTS
We dig wells in the southern plains. We test the water to make sure it is safe to drink. A well can benefit at least 200 people in the villages.
There are places in the hills that have the same problem of accessing safe drinking water. We need to construct a pipe system to provide water to villages in the mountains.
About
Sanitation
HTCDN works to create awareness in schools. Students and teachers need to learn about sanitation to prevent possible disease. We provide this information through workshops and train people to wash their hands and body. We also encourage them to keep their areas clean. A germ-free environment is essential for a healthy community.
Toilet construction:
We have built several toilets in schools in rural areas. Using toilets reduces the chance of getting infected with germs and diseases.
Hygiene
Rural communities lack awareness of hygienic lifestyles and knowledge about the food that they consume.
